Assisi, Orvieto & Civita di Bagnoregio Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Roma Tiburtina Railway Station to begin this day trip to Assisi, Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio.
After making a quick stop along the way, we'll get to Assisi after a 3-hour journey. Known for being the birth city of Saint Francis of Assisi, this destination is an important spiritual centre.
Along the way, we'll give you an introduction to the city and, upon arrival, you'll have free time to explore its medieval streets and discover the famous Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi at your own pace. We also recommend visiting the Piazza del Comune, the heart of Assisi, and relax in one of its cafeterias.
We'll start our route again to get to one of Italy's most magical places, Civita di Bagnoregio. Did you know that it's known as the Dying City, due to the constant erosion of the hill it's located on?
To get there, we'll take a minibus that will bring us to the famous panoramic bridge, from where we'll have spectacular views. There, you'll have time to stroll along its cobbled streets, admire the stone houses and enjoy its unique atmosphere—a journey back in time!
Afterwards, we'll leave this dreamy location behind to head to our last stop, Orvieto, another medieval jewel that stands on a cliff of volcanic rock. In the bus, we'll tell you all about its history and main monuments before giving you free time to explore the city at your own pace.
One of its biggest attractions is the Orvieto Cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture with an impressive façade full of sculpted details and golden mosaics. Wander through its streets to discover local craft shops and, if you're up for it, you can also try its famous Orvieto Classico wine, one of the most prestigious in the region.
After our free time in Orvieto, we'll begin our return journey to Rome, where we'll arrive about 14 hours later.
